Iran has warned Israel if the attacks on Gaza continue. Iran’s Foreign Minister has also warned other nations that are supporting Israel. In the Qatari city of Doha, the Iranian Foreign Minister also had discussions with Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas. Earlier, the US had warned Iran over interfering with Israel’s war on terror.
Will Iran Attack Israel? | Iran Warns Israel Over Attacks on Gaza
“Hussein Amir Abdulah, the foreign minister of Iran, paid Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the ruler of Qatar, a visit here in Doha. They discussed the latest developments in Gaza. Abdulah said that the conflict will not end if Israel continues attacking civilians. On Saturday, he met Hamas’s political leader, Isma Han, in Qatar’s capital, Doha. Jabari is in Iran’s capital, Tehran. It is well known that Iran supports Hamas heavily. On the eighth day of this fight, what is their stance? Well, we just heard from the Iranian foreign minister in Doha during his meeting with the Amir of Qatar. He made it very clear and had one of the strongest warnings from Iran that we’ve heard over the past eight days. He warned that things would get worse if the Israeli bombing and aggression—as he put it—on the Palestinian people continued. It will not be confined to just Gaza. This is something very significant that we have heard from the high-ranking Iranian official.
Now, for their support of Hamas, it’s no secret Iran has been a staunch supporter of the group since its inception. The Iranian leadership has maintained their position that they will continue to support Hamas any way they can and whatever way they’re required to by the organization itself. And in the last eight days, that has only been emphasized.
The US is deploying significant military forces to the area. There was just one aircraft carrier at first, but today there is a second one that is being built. They have made it clear that they are doing this to stop Iran or Hezbollah from attempting to escalate. Has Iran offered any commentary on this? Iran maintains that these actions by the US are viewed as a genuine escalation in and of itself. By moving these major warships to the region, it sends a message that they are ready and willing to defend their own interests. And that is something the Iranians have said that is very dangerous because their interference is what is fueling the instability in this region.
Again, I want to point out something. During the past four days, we saw Hussein Amir Abdullah Hyam visited four countries, including Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Qatar. His language changed quite drastically from the first day on Thursday when he spoke after meeting with the head of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, that there is still time to try and contain the situation, trying to deescalate. He did, however, emphasize that resistance organizations like Hezbollah and others were prepared and had their hands ready to act, cautioning that if this continued, there may be an escalation but that Israel would not be directly threatened.
On his last day in Doha, we saw him on Sunday during his meeting with the Amir of Qatar. He said that the situation, if it’s not remedied, if it doesn’t de-escalate, then there is no telling how large the conflict will get. Furthermore, Iran and other regional actors are no longer able to remain observers, implying that if Israel doesn’t back down, Iran is prepared to intervene in this confrontation. Okay, and that’s why we’re watching it so closely. Dorsa Jabari reporting from Tehran.”
